Journal 3
My winter break was very fun, more fun than I had hoped it would be. I hung out with my friends a lot during this time, we stayed at eachothers houses, played video games, and really just had an amazing time. Then Christmas rolled around and I got to hang out with my family at my house and open presents etc. Then the new year 2016, the year of my graduation the year that will finally become an adult. As I reflect on the first semester I’m starting to really figure out that it’s going by really fast, faster than I anticipated, I knew that it would go by fast but not that fast, I feel like we just started the first semester and it’s already the end of the second one.
I finished two classes that I originally started with this semester and I’m very close to finishing another and the first semester of some other classes. This last semester hasn’t really hit me like some of the other students, I’m keeping calm and not letting myself stress out over little things that I could easily finish.
The things that I need to accomplish before graduation are english which in my opinion is the hardest out of the classes that I need finish before the deadline of the last semester. Economics and government are the second hardest, I’m only one assignment away at this point to finishing economics, And then I’m going to be able to really start in on government and I’m hoping that it’s not as hard as economics, I know the teacher that does government and he taught U.S history to me last year and it was a very easy to follow his format of teaching. Then the other supplemental classes that I need are spanish and auto 1. Auto 1 is pretty fun even though I wish there was more one on one teacher to student time where I could get more work done and not have to rely on other advanced students to help me sometimes. The same goes for spanish, I have a lot of trouble in spanish because it’s like we're one spot and then the whole class moves away from me when I miss one assignment.
I have only applied to one college and that is porterville college which is just in the next town not to far from where I live. I’m trying to get financial aid even though I know that I qualify for it, so all I have to do is actually sign up for it and then I’m pretty positive I will have no problem. I have found a place that I could work at after high school that’s not apart of my career but it’s a paycheck that could support myself for a while until I get my real career job which would be in landscaping or something in the area of work. All in all the first semester has been full of challenges but all very completable, I also have a lot of faith that I will finish the last semester strong.
